TITLE: Intensive Special Needs Teacher
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); Long-Term Substitute (anticipated mid-December through late January); salary $150.00-$283.18/day
LOCATION: Hopkinton Integrated Preschool, Hopkinton, Massachusetts

The Intensive Special Needs Teacher enhances the educational program for students with disabilities and fosters the development of these children in the general curriculum. The Intensive Special Needs Teacher reports to the principal and the Director of Student Services, and directs Paraprofessional(s), when assigned.
DUTIES:
- Recommends and implements accommodations and modifications appropriate to students' needs and in accordance with strategies to help children achieve in the general curriculum;
- Instructs students in basic foundation and living skills appropriate to functioning level, age, and school community;
- Collaborates with related services providers to coordinate the program needs of assigned students, and to ensure that accommodations and modifications are made in the general curriculum and school environment;
- Collaborates as needed with community agencies to ensure appropriate programming and coordination;
- Applies appropriate knowledge to curriculum content/instruction (including behavioral and ABA approach to instruction), plans lessons and aligns assessment of student learning, monitors students' understanding of the curriculum and adjusts instruction, materials, or assessments, using data-driven techniques, as appropriate;
- Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for re-certification;
- Shares responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his/her grade/team/department, building and school district, attending all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed;
- Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Intensive Special Needs, at the appropriate level, by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, to include Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement;
- Meets all Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education standards for Highly Qualified Teacher;
- Previous experience teaching children with severe special needs, using an ABA approach;
- Master’s degree, from an accredited college or university, in a related field;
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults;
- Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.
